Did these guys watch the game? The only way you would think Dak out played Brady is if you didn't watch the game. Brady had a pick go off the hands of the receiver just like Dak did. Brady had a pick on a hail Mary at the end of the half. Dak took a sack rather than throw the ball away. Brady threw 3 balls away to burn clock at the end of the game as well as throwing another one away on the drive because nobody was open. He could have taken a sack like Dak did.
I was very impressed with what Dak did do though. He played really well and executed the game plan to a very high level. I'm not trying to take that away from him. But to simply look at the box score and declare Dak out played Brady is typical of people who don't actually watch games but then talk like they know what they are saying simply by looking at the stat line.

We played well, however, this is exactly how we looked last year before Dak got hurt. Running the ball 5 times, throwing it 70 times. Defense couldn't get a stop when it matters. We didn't win many games with this strategy before. Run the damn ball!

Typical reaction to a cowboys game. They have a good game that they still lose the media runs with playoff talk and dak being "elite" they want this team to be good so bad. Id honestly like a season where the cowboys arent on tv for a prime time game 12 weeks out of the season.

They impressed me but Im still skeptical due to getting 3 turnovers, 2 of which were deep in TB territory. Also over 100 yards in penalties committed by Bucs with their secondary very thin and injured. Cowboys should have won that game but choked and didn’t capitalize on the turnovers and penalty yards

Tampa had some individuals who played well for sure but as a team played to 30% of their potential. That was a sloppy and very bad game for the Bucs. Dallas played to 150% f their potential and bucs 30% and Dallas still lost. Not a moral victory. Tampa will not play this badly this season I do not think. Godwin and Rojo need to wake up.

You shouldn't be happy or content with a close loss against a tough team, unless you win like the next 3 at least. Then it was a good character building loss you can feel good about.

The first game of the season doesn't mean much, that being said, cowboys looked good. But let's see how the team matures over the next 4-6 games. Problem with a lot of teams that come out hot, they never really establish any consistencies, something tangible that can be fallen back on when things get tough, and it creates serious morale issues because there isn't any real foundation there, they just came out and executed better than everyone until they didn't

Watch the game again and see how many times Zeke made great blocks so Dak could pass the ball. They gave Zeke the ball on the last drive on 1st down. 4 guys talked him. No other Cowboy was around. The Bucs defense respected Zeke all night. Without Zeke that passing game would not have worked. As one former NFL scout said "Zeke was the 5th best lineman last night."

Stats don’t tell the whole story 3 of Brady’s throws at the end were eating clock and neither of his interceptions were his fault. An awful bobble and a Hail Mary. So no, Dak didn’t outplay Brady, he was outplayed. But he still had an incredible showing in his first start back against the reigning champs. He may well be an MVP candidate if he keeps this up. Then again, so might Brady!

If we wanna get technical dak was pressured on 22 pass attempts. Dallas let brady stand back and make 3 reads the entire game. So against a better defense dak out performed. Not to take anything away from either guy tho. They both balled out.

    • John Boy

      John Boy

@BanDANa Dan First of all you’re assuming I believe Dak to be at fault for that, I agree it was a catchable ball, but it was into triple coverage. But sure, let’s wipe that mistake as well. They both had their stats affected by circumstance, with that in mind Dak then has more yards, fewer TDs, he made a couple of lovely throws, but he threw far more screens and short passes than Tom so yeah, I’m taking Brady head to head. I’m not accusing Dak of playing badly, merely saying he didn’t outplay Tom. Because he didn’t.

Uh no as a cowboys fan this is the exact same way we have been losing for the past 25+ years. Outside of a few individual performances what I saw as a longtime hardcore cowboys fan is nothing has changed, it’s still The Jerry Jones Circus show. Anthony brown gets outplayed by every db in camp and pre-season, still gets the starting job, zueirlein has back surgery and can’t kick during the off-season, instead of bringing in a kicker we bring in a backup punter. Jaylon smith and LVE look like dog water during camp and pre season, they still get more snaps than Jabril Cox. Driving for a potential game winning TD, holding calls and false starts from the line to negate all the momentum the team had.

Also with the Stafford comment Stafford never had RB and if you throw it 52 times as a professional QB he should have a crazy stat line. I love Dak and with all this said he did look amazing. Just imagine when we actually commit to a running game. We didn’t run the ball back to back once last night.

@Gabriel Wier do I act like that? My bad. Didn't realize. I meant as an offensive philosophy, overall. The threat of running. Yard's gained is just a happy bonus. But, sure, having Dak throw 60+ time's, in his return from a serious injury (plus the precautionary stuff with his shoulder) probably was the plan. Good one too, obviously. I DID mention special team's, amongst other problem's. Good luck, rest of the season, though.

    • Gabriel Wier

      Gabriel Wier

@Rolmodel 12 the plan going in was not to run the ball as much. Like you said, with the combination of zach Martin being out and Tampa having one of the best run defended in the league is why Zeke wasn’t able to get going. You act like Zeke should’ve put up 200 yards on 11 attempts. The thing is, it’s not like the covered the pass better once they suspected it more. Dak still dotted them up. The cowboys shot themselves in the foot also by missing those kicks.

    • Rolmodel 12

      Rolmodel 12

@Gabriel Wier they didn't, because they couldn't. That Bucs line didn't let Zeke get started, and then they stopped calling it. (I'm agreeing with you, btw, just adding) They, obviously, missed Martin. But, they also gave up. If Dallas is going to win, against GOOD team's, they will have to get Elliot at least 20 carries per game. No run game, suspect defense (played hard, but still have their issues), and terrible special team's play, is NOT a winning formula. Now, throw in that coach 🤨... SuperBowl? Ha. I think not, they'll be lucky to win a playoff game. Tampa Bay coulda-shoulda blown them out. But, as some commenters have pointed out: they kept shooting themselves in the foot. RoJo can't keep putting the ball on the ground, Evans looked off- he might be hurt and no one is aware/keeping a lid on it, and despite Godwin's huge game; he had some bad drops- especially, that 3rd down in the 4th (wasted a very nice throw from Brady). It could be argued that Bradys two picks weren't entirely his fault (one at the end of the first half was a gimme). Bucs won't go undefeated, but they will be tough to dethrone, injuries notwithstanding.
